Metacognition & Self-Directed Learning
The most powerful skill you were never taught: learning how to learn.
Metacognition — thinking about thinking — is the single strongest predictor of learning success, yet it is rarely taught explicitly. This workshop changes that. Drawing on decades of cognitive science research and the Satori Institute's own studies, it provides a structured, experiential pathway to developing genuine metacognitive skill.
The morning focuses on understanding: what metacognition is, how it develops, why some learners self-regulate effortlessly while others struggle, and what the research says about interventions that actually work. The afternoon is pure practice: participants engage in carefully designed learning tasks, receive real-time feedback on their metacognitive strategies, and build personalised learning plans.
This is not a theory-heavy lecture — it is a workshop where you will learn by doing, and where the subject matter is the process of learning itself. Ideal for anyone who wants to become a more effective, autonomous learner — or who wants to help others do the same.
